Familiar volunteering
During 2015, the familiar volunteering program involving the families from Las Tablas Valverde School and the Nuestra Señora del Camino Foundation centre for persons with intellectual disabilities in Madrid has had continuity. This activity has a multiplying effect since minors carry out the activities with their parents and it is also a space where they can connect and cohabitate.
Professionalization of juvenile associations program
Head East
In October, and thanks to a granting assistance of “la Caixa” Social Work, the FPSC initiated its project “Head East”. This project has allowed the initiation of an study project called “Intelligo”, that takes place outside the school time aimed to improve the academic performance; volunteering actions and leisure and free time activities, in order to get a real value education; and intercultural workshops in English, aimed to foreign people, on the knowledge of other countries in order to promote a intercultural citizen coexistence
European voluntary service
“Enjoy Europe” is an intercultural project funded by the European Commission that takes place in Madrid, together with several youth organizations that have signed a cooperation agreement with the foundation. The participating countries are Spain, Austria and Netherlands. Young European volunteers apply for the European Volunteer Service, a program within the framework of Erasmus in which the FPSC takes part by adding this intercultural project.
“Enjoy Europe” is aimed to children and adolescents and consists in the realization of English workshops able to playfully transmit the intercultural values by making know traditions, countries and ways of life which differ from their own. The young women that collaborate with this projects, volunteer in the Foundation for 9 months, where they plan the workshops, write blogs about experiences and realize a daily monitoring of the workshops as well as an evaluation of each of the participants.
